A new service, coming soon

MyMedicalCert does not currently provide fit-to-fly assessments, travel clearance, airline medical forms or travel insurance certificates. A work-absence certificate should not be used as a travel clearance.

Identify the document you need

“Travel medical certificate” can refer to several different requests. You might have been asked for an airline form, evidence concerning a cancelled trip, or documentation requested by an insurer or travel organiser.

Contact the organisation requesting it and obtain its exact instructions. Avoid booking an assessment based only on the words “medical certificate”, because the purpose and requested information may be quite specific.

Questions to ask the airline or insurer

  • What is the exact document or form required?
  • Who is permitted to complete it?
  • Which dates and circumstances must it address?
  • Are there submission deadlines or timing requirements?
  • Where should the completed document be sent?

Discuss those requirements with a GP or an appropriate travel-health provider. They can tell you whether an appointment, examination or further information is needed and whether they can complete the document. A provider’s assessment does not guarantee an airline or insurer will approve a separate request.

Work certificates serve a different purpose

MyMedicalCert’s current online service assesses requests for today’s absence from work. It is pharmacist-provided, with a one-day certificate emailed if approved. It does not assess whether someone is fit to travel or meet an insurer’s particular documentation requirements.

If your enquiry concerns your job rather than travel, review our sick leave or carer’s leave options. For a specific doctor-issued document, read our doctor’s certificate guide.
